Slovenly Recordings presents the latest full length hunk o’ junk from San Francisco’s last standing Budget Rockers THE CONTROL FREAKS! You should know what to expect here by now, so don’t make us waste our bad breath trying to explain it to you, gum boy. But this time there’s not one, but TWO covers of ‘77 KBD genius – both from Australia, and both by BABEEZ! One of our most worshipped singles ever by a long shot gets the ridiculous(ly enthusiastic) Greg Lowery treatment on “Dowanna Love,” with newly added C-FREAK Sherrilynn Nelson taking over vox doody for “Nobody Wants Me,” and smashing some cheap keys on the rest of the LP, adding a new layer of scuzz to the classic G-Lo beat! So yeah, like, the new LP is called “She’s The Bomb,” and IT is the bomb, and it certainly has more to offer than just two cool cover songs. This thing is loaded (and we know “loaded”) with hit after smash hit like “I Hate Your Face,” “Hate List,” and we wish there was at least one more song with “Hate” in the title, but “Creep You Out” is on the level, and you’re gonna need a “First Aid Kit” when this sucker’s done tearing you a new one. But what do we know? We make no claims about being any smarter than this LP.

Tracklist: She’s the Bomb, I Hate Your Face, Elevator Girl, Telephone City, Hate List, Times Up, Dowanna Love, I Am Crime, Tell Me Why, Don’t Mess with Jessica, Creep U Out, Nobody Wants Me, First Aid Kit

Not to sound like Ben Wallers singing “Black Change,” or anything, but in the year 2000 a young band of suavely attired fellas from Cedar Rapids, Iowa called THE HORRORS rolled through Las Vegas for a show. They’d recently signed to In The Red Recordings and were touring on the strength of their newly released debut LP, and proceeded to scalp the crowd clean to the bone with an obliterating racket, and primitive movements that looked like something out of a sci-fi clonus nightmare, so naturally I was quick to invite them over for a home-cooked meal of fried chicken and mashed potatoes the next day. They arrived as promised, and I delivered as well: ineptly cooked bird fried in shallow oil, underseasoned, battered in crud, black on the outside and possibly undercooked. The Horrors were gracious, and we parted ways.

A mere 13 years later, guitarist Andy Caffrey contacted me about his swampy new crew AUTODRAMATICS, and to ask if we’d sell some copies of their LP in the Slovenly shop. Well of course. He even reminded me about coming over for chicken a lifetime ago and never mentioned how bad it was. We took the LP’s, sold most of ‘em, and then… silence for a few more years. And I get another missive out of nowhere. “I’d like to send you a CD-R copy of the CR DICKS full length.”

CR what? DICKS?? It’s called “CR DICKS GO IN???”

And Mr. Caffrey delivered a noisy-assed garage-punk disaster basted in crunk and hip-hop. Sounds terrible, right? Yeah, well, this is what Black Gladiator’s been lusting after since its inception (see also: OBNOX, THE LO-FI JERKHEADS, ELECTRIC CRUSH, CELLULITE), and motherFUCK if ain’t ain’t the bozack. So we snatched ‘em up on the spot and assembled this new “Dick Moves” LP. It’s demented, dope, and has Pete Balestrieri, ex-VIOLENT FEMMES saxman blowing on it, in case you weren’t hip enough to be sold by the Andy Caffrey name. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you.

It only took us over a year, but in true Goon fashion we think we’ve finally figured out how to get a proper version of the super limited, custom made and long sold out third LP from Gino and the Goons into the filthy mitts of the general public. Originally manufactured in China and released in an edition of 300 copies on the band’s own SunWray Records label with photocopied artwork pasted onto garbage thrift store LP covers, the “Rip It Up” album is now available to the masses on MADE IN THE USA vinyl, with digital mastering handled by Tim Warren at Crypt Records. Mark Twisitworthy at Razorcake Magazine writes: “…catchy yet snotty, fitting perfectly amongst the big name “budget rock” titles of yesteryear. This is everything I want in a garage rock record in 2018. Listening to this is like having a full LP of only the Jon Von penned Rip Offs songs—raw as fuck but catchy enough to get stuck in your head an hour later. There’s no doubting their adoration of raw rock’n’roll… If you like your garage punk sounding like it’s straight out of the best releases from 1994, then this absolutely must be in your collection.”

Digital mastering handled by Tim Warren at Crypt Records. Compare this new version to the only other digitally available tracks that were uploaded by a slobbering fan to Youtube, and prepare to have your asses handed to you and knocked two steps back!

Tracklist: Watch You Shine, Watch Your Back, Black Leather Blue Denim (It´s Right in Front of Them), Any Girl / Bad Stuff, Outta Control, She Said No, Let Loose, Glory Days Gone, So Far Out / Rip It Up

Mark Sultan, best known as BBQ of the legendary King Khan and BBQ Show, and whose repertoire is far too lengthy for this already superfluous run-on sentence, finally lands himself on Slovenly Recordings for a two-track single of superb 60’s garage swankness! Monsieur Sultan makes autobiographical on the suave and sparse “Filthy Rat,” switching gears from slow to GO! on the swinging flip “Heart Attack,” harmonizing with his own bad self over a classic teenpunk shuffle beat with the unmistakable goldenthroat that all the crazed kids the world over swoon for.

Tracklist: Filthy Rat, Heart Attack

From the Best Coast of the Great White North, Vancouver’s SORE POINTS have just become our latest Canuck obsession and we’re pumped as fuck to slap the Slovenly label on their latest EP! This new 7inch, their third release and first for us, is a bonafide banger from the get-go, putting the smack down with a snarling four songs in six minutes wallop, steeped in that radical moment in time where late 70s UK punk and early 80s Ami-hard core collided. From the opening, ear-piercing squeal of “Not Alright,” to the deadly squall of feedback and brain-bashing pummel on “Not Coming Back,” Sore Points fork over breakneck kicks in spades, and guarantees your own rock’n’roll kicks for days.

Tracklist: Not Alright, On The Wire, One More Thing, Not Coming Back

The Kritikal Beatdown continues as Black Gladiator and Slovenly Recordings present the second album from Athens via Crete dynamik duo HAND & LEG. The new LP is called “Lust In Peace” and it advances the post-punk infused concoction of blazing garage and art-driven destructo-rock as established on their grinding debut. Murky shades of sexual negativity plow forth with the help of white hot distortion, alternating between soul crushing fuzz bass dirges, ungodly squalls of noise, and occasional playful rhythmic rituals that offer brief respite from the saturation of musical sadism.

A Compact Disc version of “Lust In Peace” is available via Poland’s Fourth Dimension Records.

Tracklist: Faux. Softyhead, L.I.P., Spit In My Eye, Bahamas, Grave Gravy, Rooftop Spell, Shoplift, Peter Pancake, Lush Throw
