WE’RE LOUD AFRICA – KENYA 2025
We are almost ready to announce some massively exciting news about #wereloudafrica
While you wait for the news to drop, we’ll hit you with some great music from Africa, starting today with what might be our absolute favorite track: “Awengele” by AWENGELE from Nairobi, released in 1974 by Akili Production Ltd
This banger has it all: rumblin percussion, fuzzy guitars, and an organ solo that seems to start with the player simply parking his ass on the keys until he finishes smoking his doob – after which he lets loose and hits every octave. Anyone can sing along to it even though it’s sung in the Masai language, cuz there’s only one word: “awengele!”
p.s. if anyone out there has any information about the whereabouts of the musicians of Awengele, please get in touch. We’re looking for them!
