Hollywood Sinners serán los únicos representantes de La España! en WE´RE LOUD Nápoles 2017

Os dejamos con la primera de las entrevistas WE´RE LOUD dedicadas a las bandas que participarán en la edición de Nápoles y que Hollywood Sinners nos ha concedido en plena gira califroniana a pocas semanas de su próximo lanzamiento, un Lp del que sólo pueden adelantar que será íntegramente en castellano. Con ustedes ¡los esperados, los amados, los queridos Hollywood Sinners!

Hollywood Sinners will be the sole representatives of Spain at WE’RE LOUD Naples 2017, and these saicos granted us the first of many interviews to come. The ‘Sinners have just split the continent for the arid California heat for a tour in anticipation of their upcoming LP sung completely en Español.

– ¿De dónde viene el nombre Hollywood Sinners? ¿Por qué lo elegisteis? 

Tampoco nos volvimos locos buscando nombre… A Carmelo le molaba la palabra Sinners, y un día de verano vio un cartel del circo Hollywood y lo vio claro. Sería por los monos del cartel, se sentía identificado.

– Where did you get the name Hollywood Sinners? Why did you chose it?

Well, we didn’t give that too much thought. Carmelo liked the word “Sinners” and on one summer day he saw a poster from the Circus Hollywood and that was it. Because of the monkeys in the poster, he felt related.

– ¿Cómo empezasteis en la música? ya son años en esto ¿Os introdujo el mítico hermano mayor?

A mí me enseñó a tocar la guitarra en el instituto un compañero de clase, eso sí, con canciones de Héroes del Silencio… ¡¡era su grupo favorito!! ajjajaa

– How did you get started in music? It’s been a while Some big brother?

I learned guitar from a friend in High School, but with the songs of Heroes del Silencio, it was his favorite band, hahaha.

– ¿De qué hablan vuestras letras? ¿Qué es hacer el Down?

Normalmente de nosotros y nuestros amigos… No cantamos al amor, ni intentamos cambiar nada en este mundo de locos… Hacer el down es hacer el idiota, es una expresión de nuestros amigos, nunca nos paramos a pensar en ello, y mucho menos intentamos ofender a nadie.

– What are your lyrical themes? What exactly is “Doing the Down?”

They are about our friends and ourselves, most of the time… we don’t sing about love, or trying to change anything in this crazy world… “Doing the Down” is acting stupid, it is an expression that our circle of friends use. We don’t think much about the meaning, nor try to offend anyone.

 

– Nuevo disco a punto de salir, gira por EEUU y únicos representantes de La España para la próxima edición WERE LOUD Nápoles 2017. ¿Por dónde empezamos? ¿Hay algo más? ¡Ah sí! ¡Nuevo batería!

Nuevo-viejo!!! Oki, el nuevo batería, ya tocó con nosotros 2 años, pero creo que se olvidó de porqué nos dejó jajajaja… Ahora está encantado.

Hemos estado unos años casi parados por temas personales, y ahora que está todo en orden, hemos vuelto con muchas ganas.

– New album coming soon, USA Tour and the only band representing Spain on the next edition of WE’RE LOUD in Napoli 2017… Where to begin? Something more? Oh yeah, new drummer!

Old-New! Oki (new drummer) played with us for 2 years, but I think he doesn’t remember why he quit the band hahaha. Now he’s quite pleased. We were on a hiatus for personal reasons, now everything is in it’s place and we’re back with much energy.

– Ya os invitaron a la edición anterior de WE´RE LOUD, pero no pudisteis acudir. ¿Qué pasó?

We’re Loud cambió de Estambul a Tesalónica a causa de los atentados que no paraban en Turquía. Intentamos buscar combinaciones para poder ir hasta Grecia pero era imposible con tan poco tiempo ¡Los vuelos eran carísimos!

– You were invited to the last WE’RE LOUD but you couldn’t go. What happened?

We’re Loud was changed from Istanbul to Thessaloniki, because of the coup. We tried to find ways to fly to Greece but with so little time left it was no use, and the flights were so expensive!

– ¿Qué es lo que más os gusta de tocar en WE´RE LOUD? ¿Cómo definiríais este festi?

We’re Loud es punk en estado puro, ¡¡el punk que nos gusta!! Encima itinerante, ¡¡¡solo una cabeza loca como la de Pete es capaz de hacer algo así!!! ¡¡¡Estamos muy ilusionados de volver a tocar en Nápoles!!!

– What do you think you will like the most about playing WE’RE LOUD? How would you define what you know about this festival?

We’re Loud is pure punk, the kinda punk we like!!! And it’s a traveling fest. Only a crazy mind like Peter’s would be able to do something like this! We’re very excited to play in Napoli again!

– De las bandas confirmadas, ¿cuáles son las que más os apetece ver? Y si estamos a tiempo cuál recomendaríais contratar?

Carmelo dice que quiere ver a Hobocop, ¡que le gustan mucho! Yo estoy encantado de volver a ver a los Rippers, !hace años ya!

– From the bands on the Line-Up, which ones do you want to see the most? And in case we still have time, which ones would you like to book?

Carmelo says he wants to see Hobocop, he likes them a lot!

I am so pleased to see The Rippers, it’s been so long!

– ¿Qué pensáis que puede aportar la ciudad de Nápoles al festival?

No sé si perdurará la huella del festival, pero lo que es seguro es que ¡durante ese fin de semana la pizza napolitana va a saber diferente!

– What do you think the city of Napoli can bring into the festival?

Don’t know if the festival will leave its mark, but I’m sure that on that weekend the Pizza Napolitana is gonna taste so much different!

– Antes de hablar de vuestro próximo disco, ¿qué tal Oki?, el nuevo batería. ¿Le pega bien? ¿Cómo apareció en escena? Sabemos que es una leyenda del rock and roll de Malasaña, el mítico barrio de Madrid.

Oki es el alcalde de Malasaña. No podíamos tener mejor sustituto para Marco. Oki sabe como tocar para sonar más brutos todavía. Además de eso, es nuestro amigo y los viajes en furgo no pueden ser más divertidos

– Before we discuss your next Album, How’s it with Oki, your new drummer? How did he get in the band? We know that he is a Rock and Roll legend in Malasaña, the famous Madrid district.

Oki is Malasaña’s Mayor. We couldn’t have a better substitute for Marco. He knows how to play so we sound even more raw. And on top of that, he’s our friend and the trips with the van couldn’t be better with him.

– ¿Sacáis Lp próximamente o es sólo un rumor?

¡Ya está grabado, mezclado y masterizado! Queremos tenerlo listo para el We’re Loud.

– You have a new LP coming or it’s just a rumor?

It is recorded, mixed and mastered already! We want it to be ready for WE’RE LOUD.

– ¿Podéis adelantar algo? Título, sello discográfico… ¿Habéis cambiado de estilo? ¡¿Qué habéis grabado?! 

Aun no sabemos el título, ni quién hará la portada, ni nadaaaa. Está todo en el aire. Pero nos tenemos que poner las pilas.

El estilo es básicamente igual, ¡pero ahora hemos hecho todas las letras en castellano! Así que algo diferente sonará.

– Could you tell us something about it? Title, Record Label… Have you changed your style? What have you recorded!?

We don’t know the name yet, or even who’s doing the artwork. Nothing at all. We’ll see. But we have to get busy NOW. The style is the same basically, but now we sing all of our lyrics in spanish, so maybe it sounds a little different.

– ¿Qué es lo que más mola de Hollywood Sinners y cómo hacéis para perdurar en el tiempo cuando la norma es España es disolver bandas?

Supongo que lo que más mola son los directos, pero tampoco puedo decirte porque nunca he visto ninguno jajajaja…

El truco para durar tanto, es no hacerte pajas mentales, ¡pasártelo bien y au! Solo somos tres amigos que buscamos pasarlo bien, y de momento lo conseguimos.

– What’s the coolest thing about Hollywood Sinners and how do you stay together in a time when the tendency in Spain is bands breaking up?

I Suppose the coolest are the gigs, but I couldn’t tell because I’ve never seen one HAHAHA.

The trick to stay active so long is keep away from mindfucks, have fun, and that’s it! We’re just three friends that wanna have fun, and up until now, we have.

– ¿Quién os ha montado la gira por EEUU? ¿Vais California exclusivamente o visitaréis más Estados? ¿Os conocen por allí?

La gira la ha montado nuestro amigo Maicol. Ahora vive allí, tiene equipo y furgo y lo hace muy muy fácil! Es el mejor!

Hacemos 12 conciertos en California, uno en Arizona y otro en Tijuana (México)

Si no nos conocen, ¡¡nos conocerán!!

– Who is managing the US tour? Are you going to California only or are you visiting other states as well? Do they know you there?

The tour is managed by our friend Maicol He lives there, he’s got gear and a van and that makes everything much easier. He’s the best! We do 12 gigs in California, one in Arizona and another one in Tijuana (Mx). If they don’t know us, they’re about to meet us!

– Los miembros de la banda compartís gustos musicales o a cada uno le gusta una música distinta ¿Cuáles son vuestros gustos?

Todos compartimos gustos, rock&roll, punk, garage…

Edu (guitarra y voz): sobre todo 60’s punk, pero también garaje actual, rock&roll, punk

Carmelo (bajo y voz): Es el que está más a la moda, siempre rebusca entre los grupos nuevos de nuevas músicas.

Oki (batería y voz): Este hombre es una caja de sorpresas amante de Peret, Gary US Bond y Meanis, por decir algo.

– Do all members of the band share taste in music?

Yes and no. We all love rock&roll, punk and garage.

Edu (guitar/vox) is in to 60’s Punk mostly, but also contemporary garage, rock&roll, punk.

Carmelo (Bass/Vox) is the trendy one, he always finds something in new bands, new kinds of music.

Oki (Drums/Vox) is always a surprise with Peret, Gary U.S. Bonds, Meanies…

– Edu. Tienes los locales Pandorax Vox de Madrid, donde pasas muchas horas de tu vida. Y cuando sales tienes un grupo. ¿Vives 24 horas rodeado de rock and roll? ¿Qué otros intereses hay en tu vida? ¿Y en los de Carmelo (bajo) y Oki (batería)?

Ciertooo, ¡¡mi vida es 100% música!! Además de los locales y tocar, giro con bandas currando para ellos. Siempre me ha gustado mucho ir al cine, pero poco puedo hacer ahora… estoy currando todo el día.

Carmelo le da duro al Skate y Oky dibuja.

– Edu, you got Pandora’s Vox Rehearsal Rooms in Madrid, where you spend most of your time, and after that you got a band. Do you live surrounded by rock 24/7? Which other interests are in your life? And in Carmelo’s and Oki’s?

Yes my life is 100% Music. Apart from the Rehearsal Rooms and playing, I tour with other bands, working for them. I always liked to go to the movies, but nowadays I ain’t got the time. Carmelo skates a lot and Oki draws.

– Edu. ¿Haces kárate? ¿Cómo te defenderías de los guardaespaldas de Trump si te asaltan en EEUU? ¿Y de una posible reyerta napolitana? 

Es Kung Fu, ¡¡como la serie!! Mi profe es un monje Budista que nos enseña la no violencia, eso sí, nos ensaña a repartir de lo lindo Jajajaja… A esos guardaespaldas no les haría nada, pero a Trump se me ocurren varias cosas.

– Edu, you know karate. How will you defend yourself against Trump’s bodyguards if they assault you in the USA? And in a street brawl in Napoli?

It’s Kung-Fu, like the TV serial. My teacher is a Buddhist Monk that teaches us non-violence, but, he teaches us to kick ass for real hahaha. I would not harm those bodyguards, but I can think of several things I would do to Trump.

– Hace poco menos de un mes se despedía una banda de la casa Slovenly Recordings, Wau y los Arrrghs!!! ¿Cómo recibisteis la noticia? ¿Creéis que volverán algún día?

Estoy seguro que no volverán… lo he hablado mucho con ellos y Juanito lo tiene claro. Es una pena, son la mejor banda de garaje de las últimas décadas y me da mucha pena no volver a verles.

– Less than a month ago a band from Slovenly Recordings, Wau y los Arrrghs!!!, said their farewell. How did you get the news? Do you think they will play again someday?

I am sure they will not… I talked a lot about it with them and Juanito is pretty sure about it. Quite sad, they are last decade’s best garage band, and I feel sad to think I will never see them again.

– Tenemos mucho interés por la figura de Oki, vuestro nuevo batería. Sabemos que también es artista, pintor de brocha fina. ¿Podrías acercarnos un poco a su vida cotidiana? ¿Cómo es un día normal en la vida de Oki? 

Espero que tengas tiempo ajjajajajaj, ¡¡no voy a ser breve!! El gran lema de Oky es “no dejes para mañana lo que no vayas a hacer nunca” jajajaja… Oky sabe cómo vivir, trabaja algunas noches en La Via Láctea, por el día pinta cuadros, de vez en cuando murales… Pintar cierres no le gusta mucho, llevo 5 años esperando que me pinte los de Pandoras. Le encanta cenar hamburguesas frías. Pero en lo que más tiempo invierte es en gobernar Malasaña, acuérdate que es el alcalde.

– We’re very interested in Oki, your new drummer. We know he’s also a highbrow artist. Could you explain Oki’s everyday life?

Hope you got enough time hehehe, Oki’s greatest motto is “Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do never”. Oki knows how to live, he works some nights at the Vía Láctea (milky way), at daytime he paints on canvas, sometimes walls. Painting storefronts is not his cup of tea, I’ve been waiting for 5 years for him to paint Pandora’s. He really likes to have cold hamburgers for dinner. But most of his time goes to rule over Malasaña, remember he’s the Mayor.

– Cómo banda, ¿cuál es la principal diferencia entre tocar de resaca y hacerlo fresco?

Pues el último fin de semana tuvimos las dos experiencias.. y una vez que te subes a un escenario no hay resacas, ni cansancios ni nada… ¡somos dinamita! jajajja

– As a band, What’s the main difference between playing hungover and playing fresh?

Well, last weekend we experienced both and, when you get up on stage, there’s no hangover, weariness, nothing… We’re dynamite!!!

– ¿Cómo escapar a la resaca en plena gira? ¿Existen tácticas profesionales? 1,2,3, responda otra vez

Luchar por que la resaca del día siguiente sea mayor. Así la de hoy desaparece.

– How to avoid hangover while on tour? Are there some pro-tactics?

Fight to make a bigger hangover tomorrow, so today’s goes away.

– En tiempos revueltos como los actuales, ¿qué le recomendáis al personal?

Que vayan a ver a Oky a su barra presidencial en la via láctea, todo se volverá de color de Ron Miel y empezará la fiesta.

 

– In this strange days that we’re living, What’s your advice to the good ol’ folks?

They should visit Oki at his presidential bar in Vía Láctea. Everything will turn the color of Honey Rum and the party will begin.
