DEATH CONFIRMED TO PERFORM AT WE’RE LOUD AFRICA!
In 1975 in Detroit, the Hackney brothers recorded an album for their band… called DEATH. Despite being punk before the likes of the Ramones or Sex Pistols, no record label would sign them unless they changed their name. They refused, the recordings went to a box in the attic, and the band eventually broke up after self-releasing one single.
Decades later, the sons of Bobby Hackney heard that single and started asking questions… which eventually led to the release of that album on Drag City Records in 2009. To honor their late brother David’s vision, they named the album “For the Whole World to See” and embarked on a tour that hit several of the world’s continents… but not Africa.
Slovenly Recordings is ecstatic — and honored — to announce that in November 2025, on the 50th anniversary of the recording of their album, and 25 years after David Hackney’s passing, DEATH will perform in Africa for the first time! …at We’re Loud Fest in Nairobi, Kenya.
