THE OKMONIKS
Slovenly was supposed to choose two or three of the nine songs the Okmoniks submitted for a single... but all of the songs were so good, it was impossible to choose. Hence the album, their debut! Nine ultracatchy dance party destined classics that will keep you moving in your chair and humming along. This is their cleanest recording yet, but the garage-pop trashiness of their singles
has NOT been lost -- they've succeeded, with this recording, where THE MUMMIES failed!
Release date March 11, 2008, just in time for their SXSW gigs! |

THE PENETRATORS
After looking around at the wreckage that was musical scene back in 1999, the Penetrators decided to go back into the recording studio and bang out yet another set of serenades to the farm animals and local inhabitants around Sangerfield, New York. We are pleased as all heck to present the revived Penetrators' latest studio stuff featuring Jack Penetrator's incredibly hot lead vocals, Spike's great production and guitar work, special lead guitar solos from upstate musical legend Mark Doyle, and incredibly rocking support from everybody else involved. With such great studio stuff under their collective belts, what else could they do but go on the road to select venues, including headlining the 2003 Chicago Blackout. Future gigs planned in the USA & Europe!
Release date March 11, 2008! |

#16: The Wildebeests 45
You may recognize the song One & One -- it's already been released, on an LP comp and an album (both of which are impossible to find) and a 7" on SFTRI (which sounds like utter hell). It was one of my favorite DJ tracks, until during Wild Weekend a few years back, it skipped, and I picked the 12" up off the turntable and frisbeed it into the crowd. So we've remastered it, and included a catchy new unreleased track, the tin-can-trashy, ultra-garage screecher, Pointless.
Release date March 11, 2008! |
#21: The Hipshakes 45
Another furious doowop of punk rock dished out by these charming blokes from behind the chimney, up the nook & cranny, in wherevershire, sussextown, bloody blimey criminy England! If you know them you love them.
Release date March 11, 2008, just in time for their SXSW gigs! |
#17: The Rippers 45
Another killer, two more songs, even better than the first 45 we did for them! These Italians really know what rock'r'roll is. If you ever get the chance to visit Sardinia, you'll see -- when the gig is over, the drinks keep flowing and The Rippers hang around, in beerstained suits, jamming with their friends -- until the sun comes up.
Release date March 11, 2008, just in time for SXSW and their 1st US tour! |

#15: Los Idiotas 45
Two beautiful Spanish idiots, former transplants to the frigid swamp known as the Netherlands, and now back in their tortilla-munching motherland. Side A was recorded in Amsterdam and brings me straight back to a 1998 MOTARDS gig. Remember them? The B-side was cut in Spain and has more of a Zeke/Dwarves sound. Don't forget the accent on the 'e'!

#20: The Penetrators 45
Syracuse's Kings of Basement Rock are back! That's right, The Penetrators have been busy in the studio recording an album for Slovenly for which we'll tease you with a limited 45. Old songs, new recordings, still rocking!
Strictly limited to 1000 copies -- both tracks are on their upcoming album on Slovenly, so when this one is gone, it's gone! |
#14: Billy Childish & the Musicians of the British Empire 45
Billy Childish & company were in Spain to record in el Doctor Explosivo Jorge Explosion's studio, and I went to Madrid to see them play. At the gig, I asked Jorge how he was doin', and he said, through an ear-to-ear smile, "Great! I've got Billy Childish in my studio!" Duh! A few minutes later he came to me with a beer and said, "so would you like to release what we're recording?" DUH!!
As usual, Childish does no wrong. These tracks are a little different from what you might expect -- accompanying the usual raw garage-guitar sound of Childish are some melodies that remind of noise-pop bands like HENRY'S DRESS. |
#19: Ape City R&B 45
Seattle's APE CITY R&B whips out another killer 45 with songs featuring the word "baby". Thrasher magazine sez it as good as I could:
"How about a heaping helping of muy primitivo slop, served up on a 7" slab by Ape City R&B? The lowest of lo lo-fi, this one is a shit stomper in garagified vein of the Gories (but even more stripped down) or for a more contemporary comparison something like BBQ" |
#13: Ridiculous Trio 45
YEAH!! They're back with three more instrumental Stooges cuts played with drums, tuba, and trombone. Still genius! Hear it here...
(I tried to get them to do some other covers -- I suggested maybe MC5, or the Sonics... but the answer was NO -- the Ridiculous Trio plays only Stooges covers! Truly ridiculous.) |
#18: Slab City 45
"SLAB CITY is a Border Town Band from Imperial Valley California that consists of a couple white dudes & a coupla brown dudes. With the stench of the Salton Sea and minds as polluted as the New River, Slab City will drink all your Caguamas and destroy your Pachanga."
That's how these torta rockers describe themselves. I'd compare 'em to the Germs, the Spits, and AssCobra-era Turbonegro. Their debut vinyl, and it's a killer! Featuring everyone's favorite filmmakin' tour manager, Ernie, who has been seen recently behind the keys for The Spits. |

THE HIPSHAKES
Fourteen blistering tracks of teenage angst from The Nook, Up the Chimney, Bagshaw Hill, UK. These three young chaps are sure to make the likes GG ALLIN, GUITAR WOLF, THE REATARDS, and even THE STONES very proud. Eric of OBLIVANS recently showed his approval with a release on his fine GONER RECORDS label. Excruciatingly loud trash punk straight from the garage that blares so loud that we applied a warning label for your speakers. Don't miss this one!
both the LP and the CD will be limited -- you've been warned... :) RELEASE DATE: 6 FEB 2007. Now accepting preorders. |

#12: The Masonics 45
Two brand new tracks by this London 'sooper'group (with one Headcoat, one Milkshake, and one Wildebeest/Kaiser, if I'm not mistaken). Recorded in Espanya by Mr. Dr. Explosivo himself, in his shiny new vintage studio with the funny Italian name. Hear it here!

#11: Los Pataconas 45
Debut vinyl by these paella-munching Mediterranean surfers. A fine Valencian rendition of one of my all-time favorite Americanadas on the A-side, with the flip sporting one original and one cover. Great surf with a distinctly Spanish flavor. As seen at Funtastic #2! Hear it here!
#10: Hollywood Sinners 45
Three heavy 60s punkers from these Madrileños! One original on the A-side ("Wild Man" - it's a new one!) and two revved-up covers on the flip. Big full sound that will knock your dancing ass on the floor! Hear them here!

#9: Low Point Drains 45
What most impressed me the first time I saw the LOW POINT DRAINS is that one song sounded like THE OBLIVIANS, the next sounded like LO-LITE (and if you don't know them yet yer missin' out!), and the next like fuckin DISCHARGE. No shit! *And* the dude was wearin' a wig. I've been tryin' to release something by these guys for years, so I'm proud to present the 2nd vinyl release from this Dutch garage-trash terrorism trio!

#8: The Anomalys 45
THE ANOMALYS are an Amsterdam rock'n'roll duo and they like, KICK some SERIOUS fucking ASS and shit, dude!
Ok, seriously now, both sides of this little 45 will put holes in both your speakers and both of your ear drums, guar-ron-teed. Feacherin' Bone of AMOKS/ LOOCHES/ int'l-r'n'r-DJ-playboy fame and Memme of DEXTER/ FRANCO FORMICA, who pummels his kit mercilessly into submission. MP3s for listenin' are on their site, www.anomalys.com |

#5: Rippers 45
(These are the Italian RIPPERS, not to be confused with the Spaniards of the same name!)

For our 50th release we're proud to have this single from Memphis's REIGNING SOUND. For those not in the know, the RS features Greg Cartwright (x-Oblivians).
New recordings of "I'll Cry" and "Your Love" -- with organs, more in the soulful, catchy sound of Time Bomb High School than the garage punk Too Much Guitar. OUT NOW!! |

INTRODUCERS
Four guys from Turin, Northwest Italy, play a violent surf rock, and it looks like it's the only thing they can do to keep themselves alive. Blasting live shows shoot their audience straight into the veins of pure rock'n'roll violence. Quite accurately compared to Sacramento surf legends THE TIKI MEN.

THE ATOMIKS
Their 3rd, best, and most righteously ambitious album. Follows the self-released PONTIAC and ‘99's ultra fun SUPER HONKY (702). Lead singer / songwriter George Pickard, a notorious (& published) conspiracy theorist, has ventured farther than usual from The band’s original rockabilly roots for this record, exploring new territory that would probably best be described as “paranormal rock n’ roll.” Produced by Vince Gates (Crushstory) Available on CD only.

LO-LITE
The 3rd amazing album from this Dutch two-man-band, excelling in an original mix of raw stompin' blues and high-octane punk rock. A slithering slide guitar, some manic vocals, and pounding drums make for a surprisingly heavy sound. A must-have for any fan of trashed-out blues punk. [Slovenly Recordings] |

CRUSHSTORY
"Although this comes advertised-via reviews of their two previous singles on 702 records - as a treat for fans of Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson, it doesn't come across that much like either. If CRUSHSTORY shares anything with the old, clever new wave curmudgeons, it's in the vocals, not the music. Granted, the singer does sound a lot like the former Declan McManus, thanks to a similar nasal tone and pronounced slurring vowels style. But the band sounds more like THE JAM or THE GAS and BIG STAR having some kind of melding party with a classic '60s pop group. The guitars come meaty and thick and fast sometimes, with whooshing, old new wave (CARS?) organ and Rhodes piano. Or they come a-banging post-glam power-pop like THE REPLACEMENTS might trot out. Or they hit at the high-stepping XTC-does-THE KINKS' 'Sunny Afternoon' with a Herb Alpert trumpet on the best song 'All Natural'. Or they switch to a mod-band urgency, like the ace 'White'. These guys do it all, and do it well" -Jack Rabid: The Big Takeover #48 |

THREE YEARS DOWN
A very special record, inspired by our trip to the KISS concert together at Lawlor Events Center in Reno - we all snuck in and Jason wrote a song about it. With an AC/DC cover on the B-side. A preview to the "Snakes Bite" LP. |

LO-LITE
This is a Dutch two-man band, excelling in an original mix of raw stompin' blues and a high-octane punky rock. A slithering slideguitar, some maniac vocals and pounding drums make a surprisingly heavy live sound. Lo-Lite absolutely hasn't the tinny sound one would suspect from such a small band. Though barebones primitive, the songs carefully evade quite some silly rock&roll clichés, we're not talking copycats here, but the real HOW-HOW-HOW-HOW boogie chillin' thing. The hottest gumbo-infected low yo-yo stuff slide guitar blues'n'boogie you have ever heard escaping from your speakers! |

Gethold of a helmet and plunge into the garage surf'a'billy world called Dexter, a wound up showcase of pure psycho easy and a fine example of the quick. |

ROCKS / LOUDMOUTHS
The ROCKS have been around since 1977 and still have that classic '77 three-chord punk rock sound. Members of the Loudmouths have always LOVED the Rocks, and covered two of their songs on their albums (not on this 7" -- the Loudmouths songs are originals). Beth Loudmouth sent copies of their albums with the cover songs to the band members and Rocks' drummer suggested a split 7". |

LOUDMOUTHS
Known unofficially as the illegitimate brats of the Ramones, the Loudmouths were born into the punk rock world with a predestined disposition for blowin' eardrums with their three-chord rock'n'roll at a chainsaw volume. These three delinquents literally grew up at the front of shows while collecting punk rock, metal, garage, rockabilly, surf and good old rock'n'roll vinyl along the way. It was out of pure devotion to rock'n'roll, the lust for a good time, and the desire to do-it-yourself that the Loudmouths formed and the rest is punk rock history. Also: Spit it Out 7" |

SCARED OF CHAKA / FLAKE MUSIC
This would be my (and SCARED OF CHAKA's) first treading in the waters of "indie-rock." It's really an Albuquerque thing, you wouldn't understand. Four songs, two covers (of each other's songs, how sweet...!) and some awesome 3-color packaging. The whole first pressing was on orange vinyl. And for the punk purists: CHAKA's got an unreleased song on here that ain't "indie-rock", so don't ignore this one. Fans of THE SHINS take note: FLAKE MUSIC is comprised of mostly the same members! |

This was the best record on 702, until these guys released the "How to Lose" 10-inch. Recorded in a basement in Albuquerque for $350, this record has the best sound of any of SOC's releases to date. Fuckin' Joey said: "the fuckin' record of the fuckin' year! I don't eat, I don't sleep, I don't work, I don't fuck -- I haven't even fuckin' jerked off. I'll never write another fuckin' song again." Is that enough for you? SOC plays fast powerful melodic garagey punk rock in the vein of THE DICKIES. Check it out! |

THE ATOMIKS
The first Reno band on 702! The Atomiks play soulful rockabilly with kind of a rockin' cowpunk feel. A guitar, a standup bass and a minimal drum set and these guys are good to go. The singer George has been known to strip down to his BVDs and bless the crowd with a spray of vodka. This record has their rawest, rockinest stuff they've recorded yet. Get it! And get Superhonky! |
