the ANOMALYS
self-titled LP/CD

Amsterdam's THE ANOMALYS have finally recorded their debut LP, and what better label to present this smokin' full length than your ultimate source for sickness, Slovenly Recordings? Guitars smolder with crushing, echo-frenzied grunts and wails, and the dumb-drums get pummeled into submission. Lead by a rasp-throated screamer, these cheese-fed behemoths display utter rage for two sides of 100% drag-strip approved garage-punk grease with nods to the snarling and surly side of ferocious punk legends. This LP is a perfect pill to amp you up for a night of going out and fucking yourself up.

#29: Los Vigilantes 45
"Mi Mami Dijo" b/w "Que Mal"

Never a label to neglect our Amurrikin brothers, Slovenly makes good with some home grown moronic slop from the great state of Puerto Rico! Los Vigilantes are currently tearing up our island territory with the likes of Davilla 666, and schooling would-be hip chicos and chicas with hard lessons in primitive present-tense and historic garage punk madness! Historic? Yeah! "Mi Mami Dijo" is a cover from '66 Mexicano punk-o combo Los Monjes (literally- THE MONKS), the south of the border rock'n'roll deities who even wore monk robes, similar to their U.S./ German counterparts! WTF? Where are these guys finding this stuff? Side two of this 7" tortilla give us a great early 60's doo-wop punk stomper, heavy on the dumb, and more fun than a pinyata filled with peyote!

#28: King Automatic 45
"Closing Time" b/w "From Commercial Road to Elstree"

Slovenly Recordings unleashes a beast of a 45 from the king of enigmatic bohemian rock'n'roll, KING AUTOMATIC! Adding to our stellar line-up of French blasters, this single rounds up two top-shelf tracks from this prolific monsieur of dubious pedigree. Having served time as drummer for French garage legends THUNDERCRACK (Estrus, etc.), King Automatic set off solo style and created his own perfect world of exotic rockin', incorporating samples (of himself no less!) in his unique take on the one-man band genre. This 7 inch record, containing one prime mover, ("Closing Time") and a murder ballad about the Kray twins called "From Commercial Road to Elstree," (part two of a track from his latest full length!) hint at an updated version of the Medway sound popularized by Billy Childish in the 80's, and perfected for the 21st Century.

VEX RUFFIN & the LO-FI JERKHEADS
4 Track EP

on BLACK GLADIATOR

Our second release is the debut from Chino, CA's Vex Ruffin and the lo-fi Jerkheads. This four track 7" EP is going to be the most talked about 45 in every scene around the world focused on crazed music, from underground hip-hop circles (Vex is also recording an album to be released on STONES THROW this year) to the jaded know-it-alls at the garage/ weird-punk message boards. Vex Ruffin and the lo-fi Jerkheads is a one man unit armed only with a basic sampler, a smokin' stack o' wax ranging from early rhythm & blues to the crème de la crème of punk killers, an electric guitar and a mic. Imagine if Tipsy met The Spits and was severely underproduced, and what you get is a primo batch of lysergic slop ripe to be freaked at any good party.

7": $4.50702-94

TUNNEL OF LOVE
"Rockin' Rollin' Bitches" LP

on BLACK GLADIATOR

Our first release, and the inspiration behind this label, is a reissue of the single greatest punk album of the 2000's, Tunnel of Love's "Rockin' Rollin' Bitches." Two different labels have released this on compact disc, but this is the first time this album will ever be available on vinyl. Equal parts Guitar Wolf (the noise & fury, man!), early Flamin' Groovies (the pinnacle of trad rock'n'roll in a post '55 world), and the Electric Eels & Slayer (for pure fucked-upedness and extreme Satanism), this 14 track LP clocks in at a modest 25 minutes, yet delivers more devastating music than most bands' entire discographies. Tunnel of Love never practice, but every now and then they assemble in public, decked out in black and white striped tights and black capes, ripping apart punk clubs and leaving audiences stunned. This is truly the most bad-ass rock'n'roll band on earth. You can either get down or you can get out of their way.

MAGNETIX
"Positively Negative" LP

NO EXPORT TO EUROPE
Europeans: order from Born Bad

It's finally happened! The Magnetix, France's most prolific and distorted rock'n'roll band has finally teamed up with Slovenly for what is sure to be a match made in Heaven (or Hell, depending upon your definition of pleasure). We couldn't be more thrilled to be releasing this platter fresh off the heels of their publicly praised recent U.S. mini-tour. With this release MAGNETIX embark on a slightly more mature trip than their usual blasts of revved up raunch, and go for an all out oozing set of fuzz drenched hog riding throbbers. Members Looch Vibrato and Aggy Sonora (life partners and sole band members) are really going for it this time, concentrating equally on songwriting as well as displaying their pounding prowess. Take "Mort Clinique" in it's mid-tempo madness, catchier than cancer and twice as deadly, and we're barely scratching the surface of this monster set of instant-classics. With mega-psychedelic cover art to match the grooves within, be sure not to stare at it too long... your eyes could bleed right along with your eardrums.

LP: $11.00702-92

#27: Magnetix 45
"Rib Out" & "Brain Out" b/w "Nulle Autre Que Toi"

The Magnetix (from Bordeaux, France) are currently one of the most prolific bands in Europe's garagepunk underground. Adding to their twisted discography of revved-the-fuck-up black plastic burners, The Magnetix have blessed our souls with three new blasts of rhythm and bent distortion that'll have you fucking some lucky other on the back seat of a hopped up two-wheeler. One song is sung in French (for all you lusty Francophiles) and we're pretty sure the other is in English. HAR! One thing is for certain, these three tracks, by way of nothing more than nuance, is reminiscent of the sides that 90s garage legends THE DRAGS graced our turntables with way back when we were first learning about cocaine and drinking whiskey straight up. As Magnetix drummer Aggy declared on their recent U.S. mini-tour when asked what she likes to drink... "BOURBON."

#26: The Spits 45
"Pain" & "Beat you Up" b/w "Army Bound" & "Planet Failure"

To coincide with the release of the new LP by the reigning kings of psychedelic skate punk, Slovenly Recordings is proud to present four additional brand new tracks from THE SPITS on a 45 that rivals any of their long players (and particularly the 19 Million AC E.P. that got Slovenly off our ass to go sign these nutbags in Seattle!) for pure chaos and stupidity. It's been awhile since they last recorded, but The Spits, as always, deliver a quick and trippy Atari 2600 on crack ass-whooping that'll leave you with a double dose of black eye! And if that ain't enough for you, this 7" monster features a cover version of Pain’s "I Dig Pain" from the classic punk rock "Battle Of The Bands" episode of C.H.i.P.s! Lesser bands (and ALL bands are lesser than The Spits) have tried in the past to cover this song, but only The Spits give it the weirdness it deserves. Of course Pain lost the battle in that episode, but we all know who the real losers are!

#25: Arsene Obscene 45
"Partir a la guerre, Docile" b/w "Pas Fier, Seul Sous Terre"

Keeping up with the jonesers, Slovenly Recordings is super-stoked to present the free world with our latest discovery in the hip and happening world of bedroom punk: Arsene Obsene! This mono-man from France is creating home-made crunchy fuzz rippers laid over primitive drum machine beats influenced by the Electric Eels and France's own Volt/ Lili Z (and even Jacques Dutronc!). We're giving you this perfect slice of seven inches to spin and flip over and over at your next acid fueled pogo party. Dose up!

CHIMIKS
self-titled LP

If you are one of the unfortunate many that missed out on the devastating crunch of The Fatals' slew of ultra-limited vinyl releases, Slovenly has just the record to cure your miserable lives. Ex-Fatal Vince Posadzki has teamed up with fellow Franco and supreme hipster/ rock'n'roll promoter Louie Louie, along with psychotic kit pounder Ronnie Rollo to bring us The Chimiks! Like the Fatals on an 8-ball of trucker crank sprinkled with hand grenades, The Chimiks blast forth with so much Stooges-meets-Oblivians/ Necessary Evils/ Reatards/ Teengenerate power and speed we had to present this platter on a 45 RPM 12"... the world's LOUDEST format! This beast is gonna be on every one of the world's sickest kids' want list!

LP: $11.00702-87

THE RIPPERS
"Why Should I Care About You?" LP / CD

Ripper 1! Ripper 2! Ripper 3! Ripper 4! Yeah, that's the names of these 4 Sardines from Italy that comprise the wildest freak-beat combo of our our times... THE RIPPERS! These mod maniacs have been steadily pounding out trans-world punk rave-ups since 2002 and Slovenly Recordings is proud to present their latest full length hair-shaker of an LP "Why Should I Care About You?" Now this ain't no garage-slop here. These cats can play! Possessing the tightest chops of any 60s punks making music today, The Rippers literally RIP through 12 speedy blasts of quality, high-octane European rhythm'n'blues. With snot factory vocals, super screwy guitar breaks and a frogs-ass-is-watertight rhythm section The Rippers willl have you whipping out the switchblade comb from your back pocket and threatening your algebra teacher. Let's not forget the mad harmonica wail and even a song with the Bo Diddley (R.I.P.!) beat that's sure to have all the cool kids shakin' in study hall! Real rock'n'roll is alive, well and RIPPING!

WAU Y LOS ARRRGHS!!!
"Agachate y Mira Mi Corazon" DVD

Agachate y Mira Mi Corazon (literally, "Crouch Down and Look at My Heart") is a documentary on WAU Y LOS ARRRGHS!!! – or a mockumentary – call it what you will. Honest yet wild. Dirty and brutish. This is garaje Español - authentic as a tapa de morro (pork mouth), a cold caña of Mahou, or a kick in the crotch. This unusual document, shot while hunting the band on the road, shows the process of gestation, recording and presentation (in front of the band’s insane fans) of their cro-magnon second album, which will no doubt be regarded a garage classic: "¡¡¡Viven!!!" with subtitles in English, Español, Italiano, Deutsch, Français, Português, ???????, ???

Slovenly subsidiary "I Shit In The Milk" Records has gone off the deep end with a 45 by Wau y los Arrrghs!!! frontman Juanito, who is, get this... BEATBOXING LIVE in front of a crowd of incredibly abnormal European psychopaths. Imagine Biz Markie or better yet, Rahzel covering The Sonics at a farm animal orgy and you're barely getting the picture. Sen~or Wau has has been spewing forth this wretched racket for years, and despite many instances of it being caught on tape, this is the first time it has ever been laid to wax! New Demolators
"Todos los Chochos" 7inch

on I SHIT IN THE MILK RECORDS

Los New Demolators have been causing embarrasement to audiences (and themselves) for more than fifteen years, way longer than what any decent band should stay together. The reason why the never made it to the tabloids with headlines such as "OUTRAGE!" "FILTHY", "SHAME!" is a mystery. Why the never got famous we just don't know. Maybe it's that they refused, maybe they did never give a fuck.

LO-LITE
"Basics" LP

We’d love to tell you that this LP is Lo-Lite’s best yet, but it just so happens that it’s their 1st, long lost album! What we have here is monster album of slide/ fuzz guitar driven Dutch blues-punk from 1997. With the original CD being long-sold-out-of-print, this will be a welcome release for collectors, especially considering the deserved death of the compact disc. So what made us decide to release this dusty artifact 13 years after the fact? It’s simple: this is Lo-Lite’s LEAST accessible LP (read: stripped down and raw!), which is just the way we like it. This collection of songs shows the band at their most wicked, devilish caterwauling weirdness. Not yet devoted 100% to the blues-punk they are renowned for, but not neglecting it either, this LP contains scorching fuzz busting punk rock jams dripping with satanic howling, not to mention the instant familiarity that any great record should possess. Graced with a bitchin’ sleeve based on their first demo from 1995, and containing a brand new motherfucker of a song called “Hellbound,” this album deserves a spot in the racks with the best of the broken blues garage punk psychosis in any collection.

#22: The Sess 45
"ABC" b/w "Brain Ruster"

From sunny San Diego, Slovenly Recordings brings you two manic sides by THE SESS (pronounced "sesh" ie: session)! A truly original "punk" combo, these tracks give you a real feel for early 80s So. Cal. punk rock without sounding like any band we've ever heard, and believe us, we've heard it all! Slovenly heroes The Rippers declared them "best band we played with" on their U.S. tour, and this 7" rubber donut, complete with a groovy sleeve designed by lo-fi "art" meister Brennan BTMC, will turn any party on it's head, especially if you got a half-pipe in the backyard! Slovenly will not be held responsible for broken skulls while skating/ dancing without wearing a crash helmet.

THE OKMONIKS
"Party Fever!" LP / CD

When Slovenly offered to release a 45 RPM single for Tucson's THE OKMONIKS, they gave us 9 songs to choose from, but every song was a masterpiece of mid-60s organ driven frat dance bash a go-go and we just HAD to release it as the first ever OKMONIKS long player, "Party Fever!" With a history of trashy live perfection, led by America's sexiest garage -dame ,Helene 33, on the electric ivories (not to mention everyone's favorite rabbit-man hybrid NOBUNNY on drums), and a now-legendary stack of 7 inch sides under their belts, this LP was the obvious next step: an album loaded to the label with insane danceabilty, hilarity and speaker banging fidelty! THE PENETRATORS
"Bad Woman" LP / CD

After looking around at the wreckage that was musical scene back in 1999, the Penetrators decided to go back into the recording studio and bang out yet another set of serenades to the farm animals and local inhabitants around Sangerfield, New York. We are pleased as all heck to present the revived Penetrators' latest studio stuff featuring Jack Penetrator's incredibly hot lead vocals, Spike's great production and guitar work, special lead guitar solos from upstate musical legend Mark Doyle, and incredibly rocking support from everybody else involved. With such great studio stuff under their collective belts, what else could they do but go on the road to select venues, including headlining the 2003 Chicago Blackout. Future gigs planned in the USA & Europe!

#16: The Wildebeests 45
THE WILDEBEESTS "Pointless" b/w "One & One"

You may recognize the song One & One -- it's already been released, on an LP comp and an album (both of which are impossible to find) and a 7" on SFTRI (which sounds like utter hell). It was one of my favorite DJ tracks, until during Wild Weekend a few years back, it skipped, and I picked the 12" up off the turntable and frisbeed it into the crowd. So we've remastered it, and included a catchy new unreleased track, the tin-can-trashy, ultra-garage screecher, Pointless.

#21: The Hipshakes 45
"I Don't Know" b/w "Want You Around"

Another furious doowop of punk rock dished out by these charming blokes from behind the chimney, up the nook & cranny, in wherevershire, sussextown, bloody blimey criminy England! If you know them you love them.

#17: The Rippers 45
"It's Not a Place for the Men" b/w "Out of my Head for a Day"

Another killer, two more songs, even better than the first 45 we did for them! These Italians really know what rock'r'roll is. If you ever get the chance to visit Sardinia, you'll see -- when the gig is over, the drinks keep flowing and The Rippers hang around, in beerstained suits, jamming with their friends -- until the sun comes up.

#15: Los Idiotas 45
"The Blob" b/w "Una Vez Tuve tu Amor" & "Dejame en Paz"

Two beautiful Spanish idiots, former transplants to the frigid swamp known as the Netherlands, and now back in their tortilla-munching motherland. Side A was recorded in Amsterdam and brings me straight back to a 1998 MOTARDS gig. Remember them? The B-side was cut in Spain and has more of a Zeke/Dwarves sound. Don't forget the accent on the 'e'!

#14: Billy Childish & the Musicians of the British Empire 45
"It Should Be Me" b/w "Loray Head"

Billy Childish & company were in Spain to record in el Doctor Explosivo Jorge Explosion's studio, and I went to Madrid to see them play. At the gig, I asked Jorge how he was doin', and he said, through an ear-to-ear smile, "Great! I've got Billy Childish in my studio!" Duh! A few minutes later he came to me with a beer and said, "so would you like to release what we're recording?" DUH!!

As usual, Childish does no wrong. These tracks are a little different from what you might expect -- accompanying the usual raw garage-guitar sound of Childish are some melodies that remind of noise-pop bands like HENRY'S DRESS.

#19: Ape City R&B 45
"Dyn-o-mite" b/w "No.1 Phantom Killer"

Seattle's APE CITY R&B whips out another killer 45 with songs featuring the word "baby". Thrasher magazine sez it as good as I could:

"How about a heaping helping of muy primitivo slop, served up on a 7" slab by Ape City R&B? The lowest of lo lo-fi, this one is a shit stomper in garagified vein of the Gories (but even more stripped down) or for a more contemporary comparison something like BBQ"

"SLAB CITY is a Border Town Band from Imperial Valley California that consists of a couple white dudes & a coupla brown dudes. With the stench of the Salton Sea and minds as polluted as the New River, Slab City will drink all your Caguamas and destroy your Pachanga."

That's how these torta rockers describe themselves. I'd compare 'em to the Germs, the Spits, and AssCobra-era Turbonegro. Their debut vinyl, and it's a killer!

Featuring everyone's favorite filmmakin' tour manager, Ernie, who has been seen recently behind the keys for The Spits.

SUBSONICS
"Die Bobby Die" LP / CD

Their astonishing sixth album. 'DIE BOBBY DIE' is a sparkling collection of wicked hits. Thirteen songs that will take you high and will calm you down. Pharmaceutical-grade sounds, amphetamine-fueled fever dreams (nightmares?!). The bass is now played by Rob Del Bueno, the eccentric scientist who lead the sci-fi instrumental band MAN OR ASTROMAN? to world-wide acclaim. And of course, as always since day one, Clay Reeds epileptic guitar spurts and vocals snarl, and the coolest woman in rock&roll since (The Cramps) Poison Ivy, Buffi Aguero and her lo-fi primitive drum beat pounds.

INTRODUCERS
"Close Ups" LP / CD

Four guys from Turin, Northwest Italy, play a violent surf rock, and it looks like it's the only thing they can do to keep themselves alive. Blasting live shows shoot their audience straight into the veins of pure rock'n'roll violence. Quite accurately compared to Sacramento surf legends THE TIKI MEN.

THE ATOMIKS
"Motordeath" CD

Their 3rd, best, and most righteously ambitious album. Follows the self-released PONTIAC and ‘99's ultra fun SUPER HONKY (702). Lead singer / songwriter George Pickard, a notorious (& published) conspiracy theorist, has ventured farther than usual from The band’s original rockabilly roots for this record, exploring new territory that would probably best be described as “paranormal rock n’ roll.” Produced by Vince Gates (Crushstory) Available on CD only.

THE GAIN
"ABCD&E 1992-1998" LP/CD

A-sides, B-sides, Comp tracks, Demos, and Extras! Twenty-three (23) tracks from the most underrated 90's power pop / mod-punk band. This release is not only a retrospective but actually contains a LOST ALBUM - 9 remastered tracks, 5 of which were previously unavailable to you unless you happened to be in THE GAIN. The "lost album" was recorded by BRADLEY COOK (Foo Fighters, Counting Crows) very early in the band's career (well before their album "Ready Steady Smash" was put to tape) but the songs never surfaced until now.
The LP version is extra special - the CD is included for free, with the "lost album" being the tracks on the vinyl. First 500 come with a poster and a sticker too!

SCURVY BASTARDS
"Battle Born" LP/CD

"Battle Born” is the debut full-length from Scurvy Bastards who began in 1999 as an impromptu "all are welcome" party-crashing experience in Carson City, Nevada. They foiled other peoples’ drinking attempts with "sea-shanties" played on accordion, a banjo, pots, pans, guitars. All this and a growling Cap’n. Eventually, the switch was made to incorporate a rhythm section, and song arrangements came together shortly thereafter. The Bastards’ debut single, the "Polaris" 7', was released in the summer of 2002 on Slovenly Recordings and is now out-of-print. To date, Scurvy Bastards have played extensively in the western U.S., Opening up shows for Pere Ubu and Wesley Wills, among others. Their first fullU.S. Tour will begin in April 2003. SUBSONICS
"A Lot To Forget" LP / CD

The fifth album from Atlanta’s SUBSONICS is their first in five years, and the best in their 10-year career. The SUBSONICS are a totally unique band, offering a dizzying blend of naked rock, glamorous garage, lo-fi rockabilly, and tortured pop. Citing influences such as the Voidoids, Bo Diddley, Wilson Pickett, Ike & Tina, Little Richard, Phil Spector, and the Velvet Underground, the SUBSONICS deliver yet another record that shines both musically and lyrically.

CRUSHSTORY
"A+ Electric" LP/CD

"Although this comes advertised-via reviews of their two previous singles on 702 records - as a treat for fans of Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson, it doesn't come across that much like either. If CRUSHSTORY shares anything with the old, clever new wave curmudgeons, it's in the vocals, not the music. Granted, the singer does sound a lot like the former Declan McManus, thanks to a similar nasal tone and pronounced slurring vowels style. But the band sounds more like THE JAM or THE GAS and BIG STAR having some kind of melding party with a classic '60s pop group. The guitars come meaty and thick and fast sometimes, with whooshing, old new wave (CARS?) organ and Rhodes piano. Or they come a-banging post-glam power-pop like THE REPLACEMENTS might trot out. Or they hit at the high-stepping XTC-does-THE KINKS' 'Sunny Afternoon' with a Herb Alpert trumpet on the best song 'All Natural'. Or they switch to a mod-band urgency, like the ace 'White'. These guys do it all, and do it well" -Jack Rabid: The Big Takeover #48

LO-LITE
"Comics" LP/CD

This is a Dutch two-man band, excelling in an original mix of raw stompin' blues and a high-octane punky rock. A slithering slideguitar, some maniac vocals and pounding drums make a surprisingly heavy live sound. Lo-Lite absolutely hasn't the tinny sound one would suspect from such a small band. Though barebones primitive, the songs carefully evade quite some silly rock&roll clichés, we're not talking copycats here, but the real HOW-HOW-HOW-HOW boogie chillin' thing. The hottest gumbo-infected low yo-yo stuff slide guitar blues'n'boogie you have ever heard escaping from your speakers!

LOUDMOUTHS
"Get Lit!" LP/CD

Known unofficially as the illegitimate brats of the Ramones, the Loudmouths were born into the punk rock world with a predestined disposition for blowin' eardrums with their three-chord rock'n'roll at a chainsaw volume. These three delinquents literally grew up at the front of shows while collecting punk rock, metal, garage, rockabilly, surf and good old rock'n'roll vinyl along the way. It was out of pure devotion to rock'n'roll, the lust for a good time, and the desire to do-it-yourself that the Loudmouths formed and the rest is punk rock history. Also: Spit it Out 7"

They all wrote songs about washing dishes to accompany Dishwasher Pete's zine about his quest to wash dishes in all fifty states. Two awesome songs from each band. The record has a cool tri-foldout cover type thing. This record came out for a tour the two bands did together in January '96. "Go Today" is one of THE GAIN's best songs, and it happens to be on this record. Chuck Uchida from NO EMPATHY recorded SOC's songs in Chicago for free -- whatta guy. "Painting Vulgar Dreams" 7-inch

What can I say except that I love these guys. Adam, Josh, and Gabe from Santa Rosa play some great, sincere music. Their first 7-inch came out on Kirbdog Records and sounded really CRIMPSHRINE-ish, but like most bands, their own style shines through on their second release. So don't ask me to describe this, except that it's very sincere, and a really great record. Kevin Army also did this recording, and I probably don't have to tell you that he did a great job.

TUNSTIN GAT
self-titled 7-inch

These guys played in my basement a coupla years ago, and I thought they were pretty cool. So I decided to start a record label. TUNSTIN GAT reminds me of a poppy ECONOCHRIST, if you can imagine that. Kind of a different style, though not entirely original. These guys are from the bay area. Derek (who sang in QUEEN MAB) sings and plays bass, and Greg and Dan from MULTI-FACET plays guitar and drums, respectively. Kevin Army recorded it and did an excellent job. I'm pretty happy with this as a first release, check it out. Funny bit of trivia about this record: the members went on to play in MURDER CITY DEVILS, DEATH WISH KIDS, AREA 51, MULTI-FACET, URANIUM 9-VOLT, THE CRIMINALS, and who knows how many other bands.
